The B.A.T. group has decided to initiate legal proceedings against Downtown, a brand produced in Finland and distributed in Switzerland by Denner. The legal action is based on the close resemblance of the Downtown packs to the Barclay packs, considered by B.A.T. to be detrimental to its own brand.

Downtown currently markets three cigarettes in Switzerland: a bright red at 14mg, a bright blue Lights at 6mg and a pale blue Ultra Lights at 3mg. The red pack replaced a previous brown version - ressembling Barclay Actron even more closely - in 1993. However, the brown pack can still be found on Denner's shelves. Cigarettes D
