Brand Domino

Mexican cigarette companies advertised their different brands using the common matchbook, and the uncommon cafe menu. California shares a border with Mexico, and hungry American tourists visiting Tijuana, Mexicali and the other border cities could eat in restaurants that catered to them by using menus printed in English. Tourists wanting to take home souvenirs could buy special cartons of Mexican cigarettes that featured a sampling of ten different brands produced by the same manufacturer. Advertising stated: "American Customs Regulations permit you to take back to the United States, within your One Hundred Dollar exemption, an unlimited quantity of Mexican cigarettes free of duty..." Embajadores Cigarettes were made by "El Aguila", S.A. in the cities of Irapuato and Guanajuato. Domino was a popular brand on both sides of the border.
