The Changsha Cigarette Factory was established in 1947. Great changes have taken place in the factory since 1984 when comprehensive reforms were carried out. Today, the factory is one of the leading enterprise of its kind in China and the number one tax payer in the province of Hunan. In 1988, the factory was recognized as a State Class B Enterprise, and became ISO9000 recognized in 1995. In 1999, the factory's technical center was upgraded a state level technical center. Baisha is a well known brand of the factory's since its debute in 1975. Over the past two decades, the brand has distinguished itself as one of the best selling products in the country. On November 30, 2000, the Basha Group was officially established on the basis of the factory. That was a milestone in the development of the enterprise's history. The Group is now a comprehensive modern enterprise encompassing production, research and development, medicine, goods flow, investment and logistical support and marketing.
